Open Barbecue Style Tri-Tip

 The Estill family has been in the sheep and cattle ranching industry for  over six generations. They are the owner/operators of Soldier Meadows Guest  Ranch and Lodge. Tri-Tip has always been a regular on the menu at the cookhouse  since the 1820's and now at Soldier Meadows Guest Ranch and Lodge. Barbecue and  enjoy.

Ingredients:
        3 pounds beef tri-tip
        2 teaspoons garlic powder
        3 Tablespoons Dijon-style mustard
        2/3 cup bottled steak sauce
        1/4 cup prepared horseradish, undrained
        1-1/2 teaspoons sugar

 Sprinkle garlic powder over tri-tip and then brush both sides with the  mustard. Cook tri-tip over open hickory and coal seven minutes each side twice.  Combine steak sauce, horseradish and sugar. Baste tri-tip with sauce. Remove to  platter and slice with grain.
